Furniture brands rarely offer a way for shoppers to see how a piece will actually look in their own space before buying, and there was no proof on the market that a small, independent team could build that kind of experience. I set out to design and build a self-directed case study that answered both: a 3D configurator that let people picture a sofa in their own room, and a demonstration that I could deliver that capability end to end.
Built the experience in Unity, exported to WebGL, and bridged it to the web frontend with a JS bridge, trading a heavier initial load for full control over materials, lighting, and camera movement in the browser.
Designed the interaction around a left-side control panel where shoppers swap fabric/material textures and instantly see the sofa re-rendered in a room setting, instead of static product shots.
Included three sofa color variants, letting users preview their pick in their own home via AR before adding it to cart, treating AR as part of the purchase decision, not an add-on gimmick.
Optimized the whole flow for both mobile and desktop, since furniture research mostly happens on phones even when the purchase happens elsewhere.


The project stayed a self-directed case study, never sold to a furniture brand, but it worked end to end as a real website: a Unity WebGL experience bridged to the frontend, running smoothly on both desktop and mobile. It's the piece I point to when showing that immersive 3D/AR product experiences are something I can design and ship, not just imagine.
